[Solved]MPD and stereo jack output

Postby Wesman26 » Sun Jan 06, 2013 6:40 am

Hello all,
I'm not terribly certain how many of you all use mpd on your pi, but I found myself wondering recently how to get audio output to my stereo jack instead of HDMI. Specifically I would like to avoid using $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'amixer cset numid=3 1 ') and instead set up an alternate alsa output in my mpd.conf. Using the above amixer method returned no results for me (that is to say I got no sound until I reset the value to 0), but beyond that, I would also like to just be able to switch between hdmi and stereo output from ncmpcpp. I can't wait to hear back from you.

Many Thanks,

You may need to add multiple entries for each, which allows you a name in MPD for the audio sinks. I have to go back and review the config, but you aren't the first person to see that mild oddity in behavior.

I have since resolved the issue. I just have to restart mpd after using amixer to switch to the stereo jack. It's not as streamlined and tidy as being able to use ncmpcpp to switch between outputs, but it works. thanks for the help though!
