xbmc blurey rips

Postby tritron » Thu Jan 10, 2013 1:23 pm

I wonder if there are directions on configuring xbmc to play blurey rips. I have backed up my blureys using makemkv and xbmc plays sound but no video at all in full screen I just get black screen. I installed latest firmware on my 512 raspberry pi. it plays dvd rips that I used makemkv on.
Is there pvr addon compiled for rasberrry

You can try to compile the PKGBUILD in the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xbmc-pvr-addons-git/
Remember to change depends to xbmc-rbp-git and include armv6h in arch.

Do you know what codec was used in the mkv files? h264 should be ok, while the other standard Bluray format VC-1 needs an extra decoding license, which can be purchased from http://raspberrypi.org.

Just to keep my Pi busy I tried to compile the xbmc-pvr-addons from the AUR as mentioned, get the pkg here if you feel like testing: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3161898/xbmc-pv ... pkg.tar.xz
The PKGBUILD with support for Raspberry Pi can be found here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3161898/PKGBUILD
I think I read somewhere the the pvr-addons can be compiled directly with xbmc, so maybe they can be included in the Raspberry Pi xbmc build. Of cource this makes it harder to update the pvr-addons, so maybe it is best to keep them in separate packages.

thank you for the files
I wonder if there are any settings changes I need to make to enable playback. I got mpeg2 codec installed and enabled.
Right now I can play SD dvd and SD tv. HD tv and blurey rips don't show up. I can hear sound no video

How to change this to auto start xbmc
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[Unit]
Description = Starts instance of XBMC using xinit
After = remote-fs.target

[Service]
User = xbmc
Type = simple
ExecStart = /usr/bin/xbmc-standalone

[Install]
WantedBy = multi-user.target
')
