Update Reset Xorg Monitor Res

Postby highway123 » Mon Feb 18, 2013 12:29 am

I got my Pi, maybe a few weeks ago, and got it all setup with arch via ssh.

My main box and laptops both run arch. I have awesome-wm running on all 3, and got things situated on the Pi with little issue.

I had to get a hdmi2vga converter cable so I could run it on a second monitor. I got some info for config.txt and everything was working great -- I had the full 1280x1024 res with these settings:

hdmi_drive=2
hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=35
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
disable_overscan=1

----

I haven't had a lot of arch time since I've been running OpenElec on another card for XBMC, and just being busy with work. I have been ssh'ing into the box once a week on the weekends to install updates, and play with things a bit, BUT I HAVENT BEEN USING THE MONITOR OR X.

I finally had some time tonight and plugged into the monitor (I want to see if I can get doom2 or some other fun stuff running), and my res is reset to something low like 640x??? -- it's really small.

Does anyone have any ideas how to reset this in X or something? I am assuming that the X updates from the past weekend or so have rewritten something or other. Any advice / thoughts would be appreciated!

yeah idk, if i try any other resolutions, they load, but everything is shifted off to the side, but if i use hdmi_mode=35 for 1280x1024@60, everything lines up and looks good . . . just the res is 640
