Install/start

Postby Labbhunden » Fri Feb 22, 2013 6:31 pm

I have seen on youtube people that uses their RPi with Arch Linux as a desktop computer but I can't start the desktop.
I have tried to use startx(works for debian and raspbian) and /arch/setup but it does not work

P.S. I don't know anything about linux or arch linux

startx doesnt work because there is no x to start. Arch Linux ARM basically comes with what you need to get a base system up and running and that's it. Read up in the Arch Wiki on how to install a desktop environment.
Arch Linux ARM exists and continues to grow through community support, please donate today!

This is how
Update first
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -Syu
sync
reboot')
To install say lxde
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -S xf86-video-fbdev lxde xorg-xinit')
and to start X
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'xinit /usr/bin/lxsession')
