Boot problem with 240/16 mem split

Postby heathdog » Sun Mar 24, 2013 1:41 pm

Hey guys having a boot issue with Arch on the pi, no boot with 16mb split but fine as default 128 split. Anyone had this issue, I'm running it headless so want all the free memory I can get.

Cheers

I have seen this discussed in a few places, other settings tried and hung rpi.
What does the command free say you have? I think it's probably the best you can get (memory gets allocated dynamically where it's needed)
It's discussed here (not just arch perspective) http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=19334
Read to end and probably you will think "I'll just leave it as it is". Or maybe you will experiment and report back

it's showing i have 209mb but maybe that as much Arch is going to allocate me, i was expecting more because Wheezy was giving me more. I'll just have to be happy with what ive got.

You said "because Wheezy was giving me more"
They both use (ultimately) the same kernel, they both use the same firmware, so it's settings (which is /boot/config.txt)
