Mathematica: Wolfram works, but GUI front-end doesn't

Postby jp430bb » Mon Nov 25, 2013 7:21 pm

I unpacked the contents of the Wolfram Mathematica .deb file for Raspbian into /opt and /usr, soft-linked the executables into /usr/bin, and ran "wolfram" successfully. Statements evaluated there OK. :)

However, when I launch "mathematica" it takes almost a minute to get the GUI window drawn, and I cannot evaluate cells. Eventually, an error dialog pops up with a message that mentions parallel, even though I've left the front-end to the default local kernel.

Any ideas of what's wrong? Maybe a missing dependency?

Thanks,
John

If you are running ArchLinux on your Pi, then you likely would be better off if you installed the archlinux version. It is in the AUR, you could use yaourt to compile for the Pi.
