[Solved] XBMC Crash on downloading fanart fromt TVDB

Postby derkens » Wed Jan 29, 2014 2:59 pm

Hi,

I've posted my problem here:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=184811
basicly with the current and two previous xbmc-rbp-git packages, xbmc crashes when downloading and processing fanart from thetvdb.com.
It could also be due to the firmware, we have seen that previously (about a year ago with banners:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=161113 )
but i'm not sure where the issue lies, so I would be grateful if anybody here has something to add...

I've been having the same problem with xbmc-rbp-git for some time and moved to using the stable xbmc-rbp.

A few days ago I've set up a cross compile environment for pkgbuild and tried several compile options for git xbmc.
After quite a few builds and testing, it seems that -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 in CFLAGS and CPPFLAGS triggers this issue.

Maybe the maintainer of xbmc-rbp-git PKGBUILD should look into this.

P.S. makepkg.conf and PKBUILD format could be more "cross-compile non-distcc" friendly

The builder isn't cross compile, or uses distcc. They are odroid xu with quad CPU and 2 Gb ram, you can run v5 and v7 rootfs, they build in a chroot of appropriate rootfs.
Maybe moonman will see your post and adjust flags

Is fortify_source=1 doing the same thing? fortify_source=2 is the default in makepkg.conf

13.20140202 will have FORTIFY_SOURCE=1. If the problem persists then let me know.
