pacman linux-raspberrypi error

Postby nourathar » Tue Mar 18, 2014 2:13 pm

After not having updated for a month or so, I ran pacman -Syu today and I get the following error:

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
linux-raspberrypi: /boot/kernel.img exists in filesystem

what to do about this ?
I don't remember anything special from the last update, but since I did not find any mention of this elsewhere, it must be something I did, but what ?

thanks !

This shows that the kernel.img that you have in /boot does not match the one that pacman expects to exist there.

aha, thanks for clearing that up !

So is there a way to sync pacman's 'expectations' with reality or can I safely override this somehow ?

thanks,

Make sure that you have /boot mounted, and that it is not looking at the folder to which the partition is normally mounted.

Then, and only then, you might be able to use --force for that specific package only

Thanks, that worked !

so, first I updated linux-raspberrypi:

# pacman -S --force linux-raspberrypi

and after that I upgraded the rest:

# pacman -Syu
