$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pepedog', 'T')here are so many ways to backup. Do you have an x86 machine with Linux on available?
You could put card in reader on that and backup is fast and safe

I have Mac OS X machine, so if I try dd backup whole card, it creates 16GB img of my 16GB card, even though only 2GB was used.

I was thinking (if you can mount the fat and ext4) of using cp -ar
You are then copying files, not an image
Possibly the mac could have rsync? Then you copy things over the network.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pepedog', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Magikarp', 'T')hank you very much, but there are few mistakes in PKGBUILDs.
linux-raspberrypi-next provides and replaces kernel26-raspberrypi.
raspberrypi-firmware-next provides itself instead of raspberrypi-firmware

Thanks, Magikarp. I hope I fixed that https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/commit/8f04e5afbf96d3b3dc8196e06371c619023df02e

greenfish29, yes, if there are updates to -next the -Syu will catch them
To revert to older kernel and firmware
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -Sy linux-raspberrypi linux-headers-raspberrypi raspberrypi-firmware')

See http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=19334&start=100#p216838 on how to use -next firmware

Works perfectly now, thanks. Just need to play with dyanamic memory allocation and find perfect values for xbmc.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')orks perfectly now, thanks. Just need to play with dyanamic memory allocation and find perfect values for xbmc

I just played with this, got corruption over video and ext4 errors
I'm now testing with ext3 as rootfs. I think the dynamic part caused problems?

Probably, Dom said corruptions are to be expected.
I will play some videos later, and dd backup is ready.

I just found out that something is wrong with /opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd.
Running "/opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd measure_temp" gives me Permission denied.
It showed temperature just fine before.

They are not set as executable
ls -l /opt/vc/bin/
total 252
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 58501 Nov 26 11:12 edidparser
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 41025 Nov 26 11:12 tvservice
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 61926 Nov 26 11:12 vcdbg
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15054 Nov 26 11:12 vcgencmd
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 55013 Nov 26 11:12 vchiq_test

Have I got to go over every file in /opt/vc ? Or is there a volunteer?

I'm sorry, I just thought that root could run anything, regardless of flags.

Regardless of ownership yes, but even root obeys permissions flags for rwx.

Thank you for clarification.

I just tried to play some videos, but picture is shrunk to 3 cm on the left side. This is without dynamic allocation. With it, all I get is really colorful snow. :D
This happens only in X, boot messages and console look allright. I will report this in next firmware thread on official forums.

I just test built with latest changes, snow gone, but xbmc doesn't find any vcgencmd nodes so don't run.
High and low water marks, hard to see if memory actually changing
