Emulating ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest in Ubuntu using Qemu.

Postby dpremkum » Fri Mar 03, 2017 5:01 am

Hi
I'm trying to emulate ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest in ubuntu using QEMU. It has been done before. The link below shows the article.
https://balaskas.gr/blog/2013/03/25/ras ... nder-qemu/
But when i try to do it with the latest archlinux image and kernel, it doesn't work. The error i get,

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x00000004
CPU: 0 PID: 1 Comm: init Not tainted 4.4.34+ #3

The kernel source is,
https://github.com/dhruvvyas90/qemu-rpi-kernel
The kernels work for raspian though! I have also tried compiling my own kernel from the git repository. But it didn't work too.

Kindly help me out.
Thank you.

Whatever kernel you are using is probably missing some configuration options needed for this distribution. We'd need to seem more of the dmesg backlog.

This is the message I get when i try to run the following,
qemu-system-arm -M versatilepb -kernel ./qemu-rpi-kernel/kernel-qemu-4.4.34-jessie -cpu arm1176 -m 256 -no-reboot -serial stdio -net nic,model=smc91c111 -net user -append "root=/dev/sda2 rw panic=0 console=ttyAMA0" -drive format=raw,file=ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest.img
And the kernel I used is 4.4.34.
