RPi3 shuts down/sleeps after some time

Postby od1 » Sat Oct 12, 2019 9:16 pm

Hi everyone,

I've been using archlinux arm on a bunch of 3B+ but one fresh install behaves strangely. After some time, I have yet to observe how long it takes, the pi will somehow turn into a sleep mode or shuts off. It will disappear from the local network and will not output anything on the HDMI output.

journalctl doesn't have any interesting logs regarding that. The last message was an ssh connection, and I remember to have used a service on the pi via network on the day after. No further logs. It just disappears.

Does anyone have an idea what further logs I can check or configs that could lead to this?

The setup consists of a fresh install of archlinux arm, on a fresh sd card, only one package has been added that is running 24/7 on the pi, no hibernate or anything configured. The red LED stays on when the pi is in the mentioned mode.

Thanks for taking a look

Okay I found it...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'kernel: thermal thermal_zone0: critical temperature reached (80 C), shutting down')

Looks like I'll need some airflow on the shelf :lol:

Hi,

I do not get kernel temperature messages, but I have exactly the same symptoms.

My raspy only has bind9 installed and acts as dns/dhcp server. After an unspecified amount of time aka over night, it just disappears from the network. DNS requests get answered after I "woke" it by SSH to its ip address.

My journal has no unusual entries for hours before my login at 08:23 (start lines for system info):

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '

I have set in /etc/systemd/system.conf the log level to debug, maybe that brings more info.

The behavior only started some weeks ago, before that it was fine. I update via pacman once a week.

Any ideas?
