miniDLNA on RPI

Postby irrelevant » Mon Jul 30, 2012 10:15 pm

Hey,

so I've got miniDLNA up and running on my RPI but there is one thing I cant seem to get to work.

I'd like do stream my media data outside my local network. I intend to use it with my Android phone and the app BubbleUpnp.
The latter itself supports streaming via ethernet / mobile so the only issue for me is miniDLNA itself.

I've set it up on an internal port which my router mappes to an external port. Calling my network's IP and the external port in a web browser brings up the miniDLNA status page.

The problem is adding this address to my phone app. I'm asked for a user and pass, which I obviously dont know.

Suggestions, anybody? Thanks in advance for your efforts.

Okay, so the following will do the trick:

1. Install openjdk6 on your RPI (mind the lib-error mentioned in the forum here)
2. Download the zip file offered here: http://bubbleguuum.free.fr/upnpserver/
3. Follow the install instructions given on the website
4. From any other PC in your local network: point your web browser to http://<YOUR RPI IP>:58050
5. Configure BubbleUpnpServer

Done.

Supports DLNA streaming to Android Devices (using BubbleUpnp App) and Foobar2000 media player with Upnp plugin.
