boot problems

Postby RuffOnArch » Sat Mar 23, 2013 1:46 pm

Hello,
I installed arch on my raspi, but are facing troubles on boot.
During boot systemd tells me two things which are failing:
Failed to start load Kernel Modules
    Failed to start OpenSSH deamon

so I'm unable to ssh into my raspi, as well as no modules are loaded and lsmod returns just the header and no modules. How can I fix this?

Possibly stupid question, but did you install the latest version from http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads?

archlinux-hf-2013-02-11.zip

I'm on windows and followed their instructions for using win32diskimager to install it on the sd card.

right, I installed exactly that version. And I redo my installation to confirm my problem as following.
I didn't dd it right to the sd-card but parted the card myself because there is already a running openElec on it. So I used kpartx to bind it to a /dev/loop, mounted both loops and rsynced it manually onto the sdcard. I made shure that it didn't conflicts with openElec bootloader and kernel files. It boots up, and kernel modules are working, however on several reboots i got either no ntp or no OpenSSL.
Then I do a pacman -Syu and I am where I was before: the kernel modules load didn't work and it starts and stop OpenSSL several times to fail after this.

I didn't have "old" packages inside /var/cache/pacman/pkg to revert some packages like linux-raspberrypi.VERSION_FROM_IMAGE to check where the problem is.

When you pacman -Syu where does kernel.img go?
You might have to copy to 1st partition on card
