Volume adjustment after reboot has no effect

Postby crashmaster » Thu May 02, 2013 1:26 am

I use the analog output, no HDMI connected.
After a boot or reboot i get the full volume (100%, far too loud) although alsamixer shows the wanted volume (app. 50%), so alsa-restore.service seems to work right.
Moving the shifter in alsamixer now only a little bit and volume is like it should be until next boot. :(
Maybe a start position problem in systemd for alsa drivers?

There was a huge fix to the alsa driver for the pi. Dont know if the latest official kernel includes it though. Try the 3.8 kernel i posted. You can always go back

Glad it worked for you. Next official kernel rebuild will include this fix if you want to go back.

There's really no reason to go back - everything works excellent and some things (for me especially alsa) became better with 3.8.10. In future i will also on Arm architecture always take a look for latest kernel releases and try them.
3.6.x has become a kind of grandfather now ;)
