Raspberry Pi not booting after update

Postby guv » Tue Jul 09, 2013 7:35 pm

After performing a system update a couple of days ago, my raspberry pi does not boot up anymore. I tried to reinstall the june 6 image and it works again, until I perform the update. If I use the newer june 15 image the update works no problem.
Is there any way I can fix my non booting installation? I really wouldn't want to start from scratch...

It could be many things.
Always sync before reboot or poweroff

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pepedog', 'I')t could be many things.
Always sync before reboot or poweroff

I checked the partitions and they seem to be fine. Also I can reproduce the problem, because everytime I try to do a system upate from the june 6 image, the pi wont boot up anymore. june 15 works no problem. So there has to be a change between these two builds that makes the first incompatible with the updates. Only problem is, I dont know which one.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pepedog', 'C')an you check /etc for any .pacnew files, especially pam
Use the pacnew

the only pacnew file I can see is sysctl.conf.pacnew. I renamed it to sysctl.conf, but it still won't boot.

Ok, I got it to boot again. I copied the content of the boot partition from the June 6 image over to my sdcard and its running again.

Edit: I narrowed it down, the problem is with the bootcode.bin. I put everything else from the updated system back into place and its working fine. With the updated bootcode.bin it won't boot.
