xbmc and m4v files

Postby flyinghappy » Wed Jul 31, 2013 6:32 am

So I have xbmc installed and it runs great. I can play my m4v and mp4 files fine, but there is no video, the sound is great, but not much fun if you can't see the video. Most of the files were converted using handbrake on my archbox from mkv files, I believe they are x264 files. I have installed just about every codec I could find, but it still won't play my videos. I installed the xbmc-rbp and xbmc-rbp-git and neither would play them. I am running openbox and starting xbmc by just issuing xbmc into a terminal emulator, but have tried starting it from the console using systemctl. Any help would be much appreciated.

Edit: I can see the video in omxplayer but the audio is crap in that. So it's a very strange issue.

Ok, so I figured it out. I added gpu_mem=128 to /boot/config.txt and it works great now. Sorry for the post...
