Two second delay after each return press on root bash cli

I've noticed that there's about two seconds delay after each return press on the bash cli when logged in as root. Do others have this too? What could be causing this?

I've got bash-completion and autojump installed fwiw. Being logged in in other accounts produce no delays on bash return key presses.

edit: I think autojump might be the cause of this. It wasn't automatically enabled on the normal user accounts. Once I enabled it they too got a delay between return key presses.
