Arch and CAN

Postby Mrc0 » Mon Mar 17, 2014 4:09 pm

Hello,
I have a default install of Arch Linux ARM from the raspberry Pi site.
Since kernel 3.4 there are SocketCAN/Netdev drivers available in the kernel for the PCAN devices from PEAK-System but as it seems the CAN Support is not activated in the current kernel build.

I've taken a look at various sites "how to build a new kernel for rpi".
i tried to build it via the abs system but it failed. Can someone explain me in a few steps how to build a kernel with can-support please?

thanks in advance for your help.

regards
Marco

The pi kernel is not in ABS. It is on our github.

i found it on git. thanks :)
Is there another possibility to activate the CAN-bus support instead of building a new kernel version? cuz i am struggling a bit with the cc method.

I read this elsewhere
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/posting.php?mode=quote&f=53&p=524747
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mahjongg', 't')he raspberry pi hardware doesn't directly support the can-interface. however there are interface chips that interface between SPI and CAN, like the MCP2515. using the PI's SPI bus you can interface to a CAN-bus.

Hi, I'm also interested in doing this and getting CAN access via my rpi, trying to compile the kernel atm.

Anyway, have you seen this ?

this is what I've bought and am trying to get working - check the useful links in the description.
