hdparm does not work

Postby ducnguyen » Sat Jun 14, 2014 11:38 pm

Hello,

use a raspberry pi rev B and i want that my usb hard drive goes into standby mode after some idle time.
I can do this manually with this command:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'hdparm -y /dev/sdb')
But when i try to set a timer, for example 5 seconds: $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'hdparm -S 1 /dev/sdb') my usb drive is still running (i can hear it)

hdparm -I /dev/sdb says:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@alarmpi ~]# hdparm -I /dev/sdb

/dev/sdb:

Is this your boot drive?
Does this have logging on it?
Is there any service accessing the disk?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')s this your boot drive?

no, /dev/mmcblk0p1 is my boot partition.
my root partition is /dev/sda5 and /dev/sdb is a USB HDD with pictures etc.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'D')oes this have logging on it?

I don't know, i mounted it with fstab.
my fstab file looks like this:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
/dev/mmcblk0p1 /boot vfat defaults 0 0

#This is /dev/sdb1
UUID=1C35BE070C53AD23 /mnt/Daten ntfs defaults 0 0')

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')s there any service accessing the disk?

Yes, maybe twonky server or samba. But with my old HDD it was no problem.
How can i see, if there is a service accessing the disk?
