ethernet automatic connection

Postby migueldvb » Tue Dec 23, 2014 6:47 pm

I plan to install the latest Archlinux ARM http://archlinuxarm.org/os/ArchLinuxARM ... est.tar.gz on a Raspberry Pi and login
via the network since I do not have an HDMI screen at the moment. Will the dhcp client and sshd be enabled by default?

Thanks,
Miguel

Archlinux uses netctl profiles. Whether your setup will work "out of the box" depends on which profile is the default one in /etc/netctl in the current tarball.

If you have another Linux box you can go in and change the profile on the sd card with that other box, to fit your hardware setup.

See the netctl wiki for information about profiles.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/netctl

The sshd should be enabled by default, I do not know at all about dhcpcd as I do not use it.

I just did that. Installed powered on and up she comes dhcp address on Ethernet.

Wifi obviously won't work without the SSID and required supplicant.

But out of the box SSH access to the new dhcp IP and off you go.
