Filesystem in Read-only mode (Raspberry Pi)

Postby haroldjclements » Sun Jan 25, 2015 5:35 pm

Hello forum,

I have just did a full system update to a fresh install of Arch on the Raspberry Pi. Now my OS is read-only and I don't know how to recover. I have rebooted many time, but to no avail.

Any help will be gratefully received...

Kind Regards,
Harold Clements

Same problem to me!
My other old Raspberry updated with no problems.
The new one with fresh install after first pacman - Syu and reboot becomes readonly.
Thanks!

In cmdline.txt, add rw just before rootwait

[Solved] Filesystem in Read-only mode (Raspberry Pi)

Postby haroldjclements » Mon Jan 26, 2015 8:42 pm

I can confirm that adding rw at the front of cmdline.txt has overcome the read-only issue. However, I have a static IP (using ethernet) which has now not working and I am not too sure how to get it back. I have tried disabling dhcpcd@eth0 and issing a netctl start and enable (I have checked my /etc/netctl/eth0 config file). However, this has not worked. I have also noticed that my UK keyboard setting have also been wiped out.

This is so frustrating as my PI is headless and thanks to an update I have to drag a monitor and keyboard about :(

Any idea's of what is causing the lack of network / how to get it back?

On a side note, I did read one of the update message that said the cmdline.txt will have a new version called cmdline.txt.pacnew. In my attempts to fix this issue, I copied the .pacnew to the cmdline.txt, but the PI would not boot!

--------------------------------------
As my new problem is nothing to do with the orginal subject, I have started a new tread (http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8328) and marked this one as solved.

I have this same problem both on my raspberry pi and my goflex home. fixing cmdline.txt doesn't get network back, and that's going to be not very useful in fixing the goflex.

Anyone know how to fix the network issue? And better still how you would do it on a machine with no display?
