I stumbled on http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=6037 only just now, and found it to be a rather clever trick, thank you cetu86.

One remark I wanted to add, alas the topic is locked.

Modifying the $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '/boot/cmdline.txt') with $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'init=/init ')wouldn't work for me, do what I might. Researching for the issue I found http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man7/bootparam.7.html, an consequently moved the script from /init to /etc/init removing the entry init=/init from cmdline.txt.

Now it works like a charm.
