Touchscreen hardware recommendations and experience

Postby aliarchi » Thu Aug 27, 2015 3:57 pm

Hi there:

My wife is pestering me for a non-geek way to play music through out the house, so that she and the kids can enjoy music or audio books throughout the house.

I have all the CDs and the like compressed on a NAS, and a RPI (Model 1B, 265MB, no mounting hole) running Arch and got inspired by these tuts:

Searching on the Arch forums, it seems that USB touchscreen support is OK under Arch, which makes send given the first tutorial above.

However, I would be more interested in exploiting the cuteness of the RPi to the max with a 2.8" or (ideally) a 3.5" TFT such as adafruit offering, and that take advantage of the GPIO connection.

And searching on the Archlinux ARM forums, i only found 2 or 3 topics, with not much success reported.

Before I spend my cash on a screen, I would like to hear from anyone out there who has successfully installed and is running a TFT on RPi and Arch.

Your comments are very appreciated.
