Login incorrect.

Postby Vesco » Wed Nov 11, 2015 3:53 pm

Hi all,

After a a pacman -Syu made by shh, i can not login(ssh - console) to my raspberry running archlinux.
I get the error: Login incorrect after i type the login username; can't even type any kind of password.

Any help ?
I can read the sd card from my only available pc running windows 10.

I am very newbie, I did some research but i could't find anything to suite my issues.

Best regards.

It appears that libtirpc upgrade (0.3.2-2 -> 1.0.1-2) broke PAM which is used by sshd:

Code: Select all
Jan 01 04:00:21 p1 sshd[492]: PAM unable to dlopen(/usr/lib/security/pam_unix.so): libtirpc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Jan 01 04:00:21 p1 sshd[492]: PAM adding faulty module: /usr/lib/security/pam_unix.so
Jan 01 04:00:21 p1 sshd[492]: PAM unable to dlopen(/usr/lib/security/pam_access.so): libtirpc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Jan 01 04:00:21 p1 sshd[492]: PAM adding faulty module: /usr/lib/security/pam_access.so
Jan 01 04:00:21 p1 sshd[492]: fatal: Access denied for user root by PAM account configuration [preauth]

Can log in after disabling PAM use in sshd by changing
Code: Select all
UsePAM yes
line in /etc/ssh/sshd_config to
Code: Select all
#UsePAM yes
and restarting sshd with
Code: Select all
systemctl restart sshd

I'd like to try what you wrote, but i can't edit the partition of the sd card from my windows machine.
Any idea ?
