Performance Problems on Fresh Install

Hello everyone,

I just freshly installed Arch LInux ARM on Raspberry Pi and although I am aware the pi is not the fastest of computers, the performance I am getting is certainly not normal and much worse than it was in Raspbian.

Now I installed X with i3wm and I can actually see the individual lines being drawn on the screen one at a time. I tried glxgears and get 0.98 fps which is far below what I can find by googling should be normal on the pi. I did install the xf86-video-fbturbo-git which is supposedly faster than xf86-video-fbdev but it didn't help.

I must be doing something wrong. I would be glad if anyone could help me.

No experience with i3wm, but the Pi2 with XFCE4 runs really well on my side...

Maybe you will get assistance if you can provide:
- Which model Pi are you using?
- Are you using standard config.txt -or- are you overclocking?
- Details of your gpu_mem in /boot/config.txt? Default is 64. On my Pi2 my gpu_mem=320.
- Do you have a config file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ with:$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# This is a minimal sample config file, which can be copied to
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf in order to make the Xorg server pick up
# and load xf86-video-fbturbo driver installed in the system.
