No boot with A20-OLINUXINO-LIME2

Hi

I have recently purchased the above board and wrote out a Samsung EVO 32GB microSDHC card as per instructions on the device page, and I am not getting any kind of boot with the sun7i kernel. I have been researching the problem and it seems to suggest that the u-boot loader is the problem? something I read about a "sec" mode for running old kernels?

Any help you could provide would be helpful, as I really like Archlinux ARM on my Raspberry Pi 2 Model B and would love to run it on this hardware also.

I just purchased a USB-UART cable and the system is booting normally on the serial line, I had mistaken it as a no boot issue because it had no output on the screen, any way to get output on HDMI? there is a hdmi kernel module, do I need to load it at boot?
