LUKS performance hit on Allwinner A10

Postby adam900710 » Mon Sep 24, 2012 5:49 am

Hi,

Anyone tried LUKS with Allwinner A10 using an USB HDD?
Will it be a huge impact on the IO performance?

Since the main purpose of my Mele A100 box is a NAS downloading torrents 24x7,
but I also want to install Arch x86_64 on the HDD as a rescue or temporary working disk on some damn windwos only system.

So LUKS seems needed if I really going to do the above things.
I wonder will the low-cost and low-performance ARM is enough to deal with LUKS.

Regards,
Adam

Seems not needed and not possible if using the default kernel.

The default kernel doesn't have dm_mod built in and if root is crypted, there is no way to get modules....

So i give up.
