A while ago I bought this device thinking it would be a good choice for a media player, boy was I wrong.

I thought it would be trivial to run xbmc, or linux generally for that matter, on it, but as it turns out this kind of devices still holds quite a lot of not so well known hardware.
Using android as a media player, to put it simple, doesn't cut it. The interface is designed for a touchscreen, a conventional remote won't cover all the possible operations, not by a long shot. There are applications that become unusable.
I see a lot of people talking about running xbmc on a raspberry pi so I assume the drivers for its graphic chip are out there and have already been bundled with some read to use linux distributions. Can anybody confirm this?
I also tried xbmc builds for android but they used the cpu for graphics which. In other words, it serves no purpose.
In the meantime I decided to install xbmc an acer revo 3600 that which was starting to be too low spec for the usage I intended to it.
But now I have my mini x-plus here on a shelf collecting dust. Instaling a linux desktop on it could be very useful to me. But it feels rather lame not to use the graphics chip.
Are there any reports of running linux on this device with suport for proper graphics?
I guess the answer is No, but again, could be nice if someone could confirm this.
Looking into more realistic possibilities...
A desktop with the average editor+filemanager+terminal emulator+browser would be very usefull to me. What's the simplest way of achieving this?
