Audio support for Cubietruck

Postby amxx » Wed Aug 26, 2015 9:27 pm

Hello,

I just made a fresh archlinux install for my Cubietruck using instructions found here : http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/allwinner/cubietruck
Yet, after booting with the new sd card, no sound device is available

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@alarm ~]# cat /proc/asound/cards
--- no soundcards ---
')

I cannot find any sunxi related package using pacman, how am I to enable audio on my cubietruck.
I'd idealy would like optical output, but 3.5 jack would be good enough if only that is available.

I think that sound for allwiner devices is not supported in mainline linux kernel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Like the missing NAND support in the mainline Kernel Audio support is also in progress.
Take a look at this page from the Sunxi team.

http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort

Since the Sunxi Kernel was removed from the Repo i have to use Debian for my Cubietruck since essential things for the Cubietruck like NAND support, AXP209 control ect.

Would love to see the Sunxi Kernel back here, but this will be no option since gcc5 is in place.

It is not because of gcc, but because of systemd that requires kernel 3.7 for firmware loading

Okay i thought so. Recently i asked how to build the linux-sun7i.

I failed and i was adviced that the Kernel could not be build due to the switch to gcc5.

If you want to build it yourself, these 2 patches should be enough:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/archl ... port.patch
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/archl ... td89.patch

If not, you will have to disable broken elements and/or find patches for them.

Just want to thank you moonman for the patches.

I will build them later today and see how it goes.

Thanks!
