I looked over the forum posts and can't really tell if there is an overall improvement to people other than those with Samsung TVs. It would be good if he could get his patch accepted by the author and merged into CVS, that's easy re-packaging. Is RandomCore's patch good and stable enough to patch it into the 1.0.18 package?

The only way forme to tell is if I install, will try that later.
Don't know what the prob is for sure, but since I updated mkv files are not included as working in the database.

Don't think it is a minidlna problem, just built a cvs version, same problem (I assume it contains all reasonable patches).
Must be either the ffmpeg update or one of the libs, only mkv files affected.

Well the alphabetical repository building isn't working very well, dependencies aren't accounted for really at all. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more issues. I don't have any mkv files to play around with so I can't duplicate much on my own, just relying on what I hear.

I just finished rebuilding the toolchain for Arch Linux ARM install, bringing it up to Arch with gcc 4.5.1/glibc 2.12.1. Working on a dependency-based rebuild of the Arch repos to hopefully fix these inconsistencies that pop up. It will be a while before it's all ready, so if you can find anything in the meantime to help the issue that's great.

CVS minidlna doesn't look to have the randomcore stuff. The SF patches tracker isn't showing his stuff as accepted, which might because of a post there I remember saying that his stuff doesn't patch against CVS version. Don't know though.

yes, the randomcore patch is not part of the current cvs build and the patch should be applied to version 1.0.18.

My request was more out of curiosity as I would like to try these enhancements (because I have a Samsung TV), rather than include them in the version that is available via pacman.

hello again,

I managed to compile minidlna with the samsung patch. If you are interested, you can try it yourself.
I included the source and .xz files. You also need ffmpegthumbnailer to generate preview Thumbnails.

As of now, I can't really recommend including the patch in the normal build. Even though the automatic generation of Chapters and Thumbnails works, I now lost the ability to play mkv files and resuming movies doesn't work.

I might play a bit more with it and can let you know if it reached and usable state.

If you are interested in the ffmpegthumbnailer src and PKBUILD files let me know.

Have you seen this?

These 2 patches fit the bill.
I thought I had ffmpegthumbnailer.

I had a bit more time to play around with minidlna.

Randomcores patch is actually working for me now. You have to do a rescan of your library to enable the new functionality (minidlna -f /etc/minidlna -R).

The problem that MKV files are not played, was actually caused by a ffmpeg update. See http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3073005&group_id=243163&atid=1121516 and http://minidlna.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/minidlna/minidlna/metadata.c?r1=1.54&r2=1.55 for the details. The problem is fixed in the csv, but obviously not in version 1.0.18.

I manually included the change in my personal build with the randomcore patch and everything is running perfect.

@Dave: You are absolutely right, ffmpegthumbnailer was actually already available. I guess I have to spent more time with the pacman search functionality ;)

These packages are for Arch Linux ARM, not ARCH LEENUCKS ARM!1ONE. Support for ARCH LEENUCKS ARM!1ONE and optware has been discontinued.
