Blender 2.82 (with Cycles)

Postby satcom886 » Thu Feb 20, 2020 4:33 pm

So I made a few adjustments for Blender to be actually useful.
The version in the community repo is only for Aarch64 and has Cycles disabled. There is not much use for that version. So I modified the PKGBUILD to build on ARMv6, 7 and 8.
The changes are:
* Disabled CUDA and OptiX device support
* Disabled Alembic (in order to fix building on ARMv6)
* Disabled OpenImageDenoise (this requires SSE4.1, which is an X86 specific)
* Enabled Cycles and Ray Optimization

I already tried submitting a pull request to the official PKGBUILDs repo, but was rejected because the Blender devs dropped 32bit support. I don't think they were talking about 32bit architectures in general but only 32bit X86. The statement is here: https://lists.blender.org/pipermail/bf- ... 50124.html. I also think I know the reason why 32bit X86 isn't supported any more. Because of Intel's OpenImageDenoise. It requires a 64bit CPU with SSE4.1. Guess what? OID is disabled in this PKGBUILD!

I'd be really glad to hear from the community, what they think and what I can improve.
