Asus Chromebit RK3288

As there does not seem to be a thread for this new device, an HDMI Google OS stick with Armv7h Rockship 3288, I start it here with my own experience installing Arch Linux ARM on it :)

Short conclusion -

I managed to install it with LXDE and Plasma Desktops.

Plasma is very slow with lots of video artifacts.

LXDE Desktop runs very smooth.

Caveat: Chromium latest version is broken, but there is a special compiled version by geek for RPi2 v.47 which works.

No video acceleration, so probably no video playback or games, though not checked.

It happens that the insides of the Chromebit are very similar to the Asus Chromebook Flip C100P and installing Arch Linux for the Chromebit, at least the command line foundation is described here:

http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7 ... flip-c100p

I used the directives and got to a command line.

After that the advanced tab gives you the name of the video drivers which also need installing.

Then I used a combination of pacman and yaourt to install the rest.

If interested I can provide links and/or commands to get sddm, LXDE and plasma -desktops set up.
