Trying to boot the board ArmStone A9

Postby onny » Sat Aug 13, 2016 6:10 pm

Hey,
I'm trying to boot the latest ArchLinuxARM-armv7 package from the ArmStone A9 Quad (https://www.fs-net.de/en/products/armstone/armstonea9/) with following, recently released device tree files:

armstonea9q.dts: https://git.project-insanity.org/snippets/5
armstonea9qdl.dtsi: https://git.project-insanity.org/snippets/4

I also wrote an wiki page about this board, which is now outdated since they released a new kernel some days ago: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Armstone_A9

Unfortunately the serial console doesn't start to print output, so I guess something doesn't work with device tree.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'usb start

How to further debug this issue? Thank you for any hint!

Best regards,

Kernel arguments for earlyprintk and console=XXXX might be useful, even if the DT doesn't give you much. Remember also that baudrates may change.

It's interesting to see the diff between the two kernel configs:

kernel 4.1 config from the manufacturer: https://git.project-insanity.org/snippets/8
where as this is the latest archlinux armv7 config: https://git.project-insanity.org/snippets/7
