The thread you pointed to is 6 years old. Syslog is not the default anymore and it is stored in binary format now. The easiest way is serial and you only need a microusb cable (which comes with almost any modern smartphone nowadays)

This is worrying
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[ 2.816788] FAT-fs (mmcblk0p1): Volume was not properly unmounted. Some data may be corrupt. Please run fsck.')
The whole system should be on a single ext4 partition, not fat.
Following the official instructions it should be ext4 http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/freescale/cubox-i#qt-platform_tabs-ui-tabs2
Will have to look at their ignition thing

Edit
Their scripts look OK
https://github.com/SolidRun/ignition-imx6/blob/master/ArchLinux/install.sh
Think you will have to look at our official install

Yes, the solid-run script creates 2 partitions. 1 FAT & 1 EXT.4.

However, the "official" way at http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/freescale/cubox-i#qt-platform_tabs-ui-tabs2 creates an SD card where the cubox doesn't even start. No Red Light.

I tried it again.

But instead of using
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'bsdtar -xpf ArchLinuxARM-imx6-cubox-latest.tar.gz -C root')

I did the following

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
cd root
tar -zxvf ../ArchLinuxARM-imx6-cubox-latest.tar.gz
cd ..
')

On the debian system that I use, there's no bsdtar installed. And I never knew it existed before.

and now it works.

Thanks for your patience and assistance.

Apart from that ignition script, which appears to create one ext4 partition the same as official, I don't know anything about it,
If the official instructions fail you must be missing something, maybe at the dd steps?
You can interact with uboot, interrupt and do
env default -a
saveenv
reset

I was doing an arch re-install on one of my cubox i4 pro today. Following the latest install instructions @ http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7 ... le/cubox-i, gets me an unbo0table device. Only the optical audio light on, no output from HDMI, no output via serial console. Maybe I should of done an update before wiping/re-installing. Not sure, it has been a while since I did an install.

I remember the last time I did an install there were 2 partitions created, one boot & the other root. Maybe that has changed since I last did an install ? I am going to try to old instructions next, found @ http://web.archive.org/web/201407240448 ... le/cubox-i. Will let you know what I find/figure out.

Edit: spelling

Yes, now it is a single ext4 partition.
Check in uEnv.txt where the rootfs is to make it bottable

I think I see where I went wrong(in process od re-doing the install). I should have my copy-&-paste privileges revoked for the day. Also, may of run into a bad SD card that I need to replace.
