Edimax 7811un and cubox

Postby Lepti » Tue Jul 23, 2013 11:00 pm

Good evening,

I am currently trying to get my wifi dongle work with my cubox (latest Archlinux Arm image) but I'm struggling with the 8192cu package... I can't do the easy way because I can't have a wired connection here. I was wondering if it was possible to get a 8192cu.ko already build for the cubox to do something like explain here : http://elinux.org/RPi_edimax_EW-7811Un. I have tried to do it myself but without success

It is probably a dumb question since I'm a beginner with Linux and stuff and I'm sorry for that, also I am very sorry for my English but I'm French...

Best regards

You need to get online somehow and install dkms-8192cu
Enable the dkms service, when new kernel is installed you will see the module build

You can probably get these packages from mirror.us.archlinuxarm.org: dkms, dkms-8192cu and also these as dependencies for dkms: depends=('bash' 'kmod' 'gcc' 'make' 'patch'), and kernel headers (dont know what it is exactly for cubox). Download them on a computer, transfer to cubox with a flash drive and install with pacman -U

You are welcome. Don't forget to "systemctl enable dkms" so that the module is rebuilt with a kernel update
