*filename* is empty, not checked

I was trying to update my odroid-xu4 today and ssh froze. When I went to try the update again it got to fakeroot and then gave a long list of files saying they are empty, not checked.

Last time I saw that error was on my laptop and afterwards there was a whole bunch of stuff that no longer worked. I wasn't able to fix it and had to reinstall the OS. Is there a way to fix this issue? Or am I stuck attempting to restore from a backup that thankfully I have

I found an answer, but it required renaming all the files that are empty, not checked. There is no way I'm doing that, it would take me a month, I'm just gonna restore from a backup

That generally sounds like FS corruption, possible a storage medium fault.
