Kernel .config?

Postby tralamazza » Wed Mar 26, 2014 6:28 pm

Very simple question: Where can we find the ACTUAL kernel ".config" used by a ChromeOS device?

I've kernel-next (3.8) booting successfully on my Samsung Chromebook, but it's a mess. Sound doesn't work, brightness controls have a different /sys path and a few other quirks. I just want to build the exact same kernel config as my chromeos (beta channel).

Simple answer: /proc/config.gz, if it exists.

Even simpler answer: we didn't make ChromeOS, why are you asking here? ;)

I'm not building chromeos, I'm building archlinux with a PKGBUILD etc.

We're still not ChromeOS, and thus don't have the configs they use. Ask people from their project.

From taking a hint from the default config in their kernel sources, then making it better (and work for us) on our own.

Thank you for answering.

Isn't google supposed to release these config files?

There is nothing that says they have to. Their defconfigs are very much adequate to start from.

Things seem to work now with 3.8.11, I had to comment out a few things from PKGBUILD.
Now to the mali patch...

I've put together a small repo: https://github.com/tralamazza/chromebook-linux-files
