USB errors on BeagleBoard

Postby vitor » Thu Nov 17, 2011 7:31 pm

Hello,
in the boot proccess, I have this message, but I think it's nothing important.

After the Udev be loaded, I got this messages..

Could be a hardware issue? I have 3 others sd cards, one with arch too, another one with debian, and the last one with ubuntu, all three stops works. The arch is the only one who show me some debug information (the second image).
I tested the usb hub, and it works on a notebook, I don't have another beagle right now, to test the usb hub on it.

Thanks for any suggestion

Are you saying none of your distribution installs boot now?

I'm not sure about the error messages, but I do notice that your ext3 partition on the SD card could use an fsck, and it also looks like you have an older install of Arch (based on the udev version 171 printout). If you can, it wouldn't hurt to update.

It's exactly what i'm saying. Sorry my english ;)
I guess my udev version it's old because of this issue http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1739. I don't updated udev package.
What this mean?
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')...] but I do notice that your ext3 partition on the SD card could use an fsck, [...]

Nothing on usb port works, so I'm gonna find a way to update the system.

I haven't heard of any other issues with udev, and my XM Rev A works fine. You should update the system as a whole.. holding back packages can start to break things. kernel26-omap has been replaced by linux-omap (3.1.1 currently), and udev is at 175. Packages are moved forward together, so you should only hold back packages if you really know what you're doing.

If you are all of a sudden not getting anything recognizing on USB, regardless of distribution, you might have a hardware problem. Your SD card can be fsck'd from another linux box that has an SD slot, you don't need USB on the Beagle to work on it. I saw the front part of the maximum mount count exceeded for the ext3 partition, and sometimes ext3 can get out of whack. Running fsck on the partition may help.
