Kernel Booting Failed

Postby fayindark » Tue Jan 08, 2013 11:06 am

Hi, guys!

I am using the Root-FS from archlinux (ArchLinuxARM-omap-smp-latest) and I tired to re-configure the linux kernel by myself because I wanted to enable the performance counters on the pandaboard. However, I met these errors during the kernel booting and failed:

:: Initializing random seed [BUSY] Failed to open /dev/urandom: No such file
or directory
[FAIL]
:: Removing leftover files [BUSY] [DONE]
:: Setting hostname: alarm [BUSY] [DONE]
INIT: Entering runlevel: 3SY] install: cannot st
:: Starting Syslog-NG [BUSY] [DONE]
:: Starting network [BUSY] [DONE]
:: Mounting network filesystems [BUSY] [DONE]
:: Starting crond daemon [BUSY] [DONE]
:: Starting Secure Shell Daemon [BUSY] PRNG is not seeded
PRNG is not seeded
[FAIL]
:: Starting OpenNTPD [BUSY] fatal: PRNG is not seeded: No such file or direct
ory
[FAIL]

Is there anyone knows how to solve this problem?

Thank you!

Regards,
Fay

Hello fayindark,

That is the same problem I have on my Olimex-OlinuXino-imx233-MAXI board with ArchLinux. :?: I don't know exactly what the problem is right now, but maybe it has to do with a device /dev/urandom (refer to the first lines of your listing). This device should exist and maybe it isn't. I found the following post : http://www.supportfacility.com/blog/gen ... ot-seeded/ . :? Maybe it leads the way to a solution ...

In the meantime I'm looking further.
Success,
kind regards,
Evert.
