[SOLVED] Pandaboard setting DVI monitor resolution

Postby abhay » Mon Nov 25, 2013 5:05 am

Hello

I'm using an old 17inch monitor on DVI with resolution 1280x1024.

I installed LXDE on Pandaboard and it works just fine except for the fact that the monitor resolution is stuck at 640x480. I tried every trick in the book I could think of with xrandr and configuration in the 10-monitor.conf, but to no avail.

Xorg -configure fails with the error $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'N')o devices to configure. Configration failed.

xrandr fails with the error $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'c')onfigure crtc 0 failed
(after configuring and adding a new mode for 1280x1024).

My Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf are attached.

Is it possible that the correct EDID values are not being reported?

How to fix this? Tomorrow I'll try connecting to a different monitor.

Thanks,

Abhay

I'm not sure if the files did get attached. Here are the pastebin URLs:

Xorg.0.log : http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=nsZKXg0B

10-monitor.conf : http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=UTJ0BiyN

What other information would help?

You'll probably need to supplement U-Boot bootargs with something like:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'omapdss.def_disp=dvi omapfb.mode=dvi:1280x1024-16')

woot! it works! thanks a lot!

i can confirm that the file 10-monitor.conf is *NOT* required. everything is automagically detected.

initially i created the boot.scr file on the board and copied it to /boot/boot.scr and it didn't work. then i realized that it has to be copied to the vfat partition. so inserted the card into my laptop and copied it there. then it worked!

then i realized that i could have mounted the /dev/mmcblk0p1 directly on the card and copied the file there.

now on to the next step ... custom LCD panel driver integration. any tips for that?

how do i mark the thread as solved?

If you have a custom driver, you likely need to build it into the kernel, or against the kernel you have installed.

You can edit your original post and change the topic, putting a [SOLVED] or whatever in the front.

Yes, it is a custom driver.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
# uname -a
Linux alarm 3.7.10-9-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Oct 17 22:43:17 CDT 2013 armv7l GNU/Linux
')

I need to figure out the ALARM kernel build process. I found this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke ... ild_System.

Any pointers would be very helpful. The kernel for Pandaboard is core/linux-omap ?

Thanks.

Minus the ABS bit, and just checking out from PKGBUILDs (although I do suggest clone and pull out that folder for your custom needs to keep tracked)
