[SOLVED] How to enable capemgr on BBB after kernel rebuild?

Postby IlikePepsi » Wed Mar 30, 2016 9:26 pm

Hi,

I recompiled the 4.5.0-1-ARCH kernel to enable some IIO features in it. I cloned the https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs repository and started makepkg with the --nobuild option on the linux-am33x kernel to get the patched sources. Then I made my changes with make menuconfig in the source dir.
Afterwards I finished the build process with makepkg --noextract. But when I installed the package and rebooted the Beaglebone Black my device-tree overlays could not be loaded because bone_capemgr was missing in /sys/devices/platform.

So did I maybe miss a setting in the config file provided in the repository? Since the compilation takes a few hours I would like to avoid the trial and error method.

K, thx, bye :-)

I repeated the procedure and went through the .config file in the source after it was extracted. There is a config option named CONFIG_BONE_CAPEMGR and it's value should be y. I don't know but maybe that option went missing during the last kernel build. Now the capemgr is there.
