I don't know about any encoding acceleration, but decoding on the Tegra2 is well known to be comparatively lackluster. It supports 720p decoding of some formats.. AVC/h264 Main Profile seems to be the one to use for the best results. There is no support for high profile. Tegra also lacks the full implementation of Cortex-A9 features that you see present in OMAP processors. For floating point operations they have a reduced 16 register vfpv3-d16 implementation, whereas OMAP has the full 32 register vfpv3 alongside the SIMD NEON processor for even faster vector floating point -- something that mplayer and other backends can put to use alongside 1080p hardware decoding in OMAP4. However, hard-float drivers for the PowerVR SGX chip don't exist at this time where we now have them for Tegra2.

So how is 1080p performance .. someone have cpu usage? I am thinking of getting one of these boxes as an XMBC frontend.
