Audio on Pandaboard

The latest kernel of the distro does not recognize any sound card.
Is the Pandaboard (not ES) sound-chip supported?

This vanilla kernel only supports hdmi output (or only detecting this one)
getting a stable audio output even with the driver is tricky....
