PandaBoard audio

Postby wltr » Fri Apr 20, 2012 5:08 pm

Does anyone know a tutorial about how to get audio - 3.5 mm jacks - work on the PandaBoard? I know that there is a linux-audio project for the omap4. Do I have to build my own kernel? Would this custom omap4 kernel work with ArchLinux ARM? Could this linux-audio driver built as a module for the current Arch kernel?

Any help would be appreciated!
Best regards

This is not a kernel issue, it is an issue with ALSA needing to be configured properly with UCM. I have not looked into this yet for our distribution, and it is very far down my todo list at the moment.

Okay, thank you. At least now I know that there is no need to look further into this OMAP kernel stuff.

But I am wondering. I just had a look at UCM and as far as I understood it needs a working soundcard to configure Alsa. I tried the UCM config files from the ubuntu-omap repo but executing "aplay -l " states "aplay: device_list:252: no soundcards found...".

Shouldn't at least the soundcard be recognized if the kernel drivers are installed?

Maybe it wasn't clear the first time: this isn't a kernel issue.

Okay. Sorry for bothering you. Thanks for the answer anyway. So I'll just wait for official audio support.
