BB update, boot failure

After running quite nicely for months as a network fileserver, I pacman -Syu updated my Beagleboard Xm earlier today. pacman said that it performed a complete system update.

Upon reboot this evening, the board does not boot up completely, and ethernet is not enabled (no lights), so no ssh access. I suppose I'll need to connect to the serial port to see what's up.

Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions before I burn off an evening? Thanks.
