BeagleBone Black data not persisting on eMMC memory

Postby spudgunner » Tue May 07, 2013 12:36 pm

So after my struggles with getting Arch Linux installed to the eMMC memory, I have been running Arch on the BeagleBone Black for a few days with no troubles. I formatted my SD card to use as extra storage for the BeagleBone and inserted it into the slot, but nothing new showed up in /dev. Whatever, try a reboot and see if it shows up (via "reboot" command). Board reboots but my root password doesn't work. I try the default, get in, and find that all the tinkering I've done has been wiped out (but the SD card shows up as a block device now!). I was under the impression that the eMMC was a permanent type of memory that was supposed to last between reboots and power disconnects.

What am I doing wrong?

Take out the SD card and reboot. Does it then go back to the custom password you set?

It seems like you may have been working from your SD card

Damn, this could be a really stupid mistake, now I feel like an idiot. I could have sworn that I formatted the SD card before putting it back in, but apparently I did not. Sorry for the wasting of the time.
