Beagle Bone Black - boots but no eth, ttyUSB or ttyACM0

Postby gens » Thu May 09, 2013 2:18 am

Hi,

I have a beaglebone black that runs when booting into Angstrom from eMMC. When I follow the instructions from this site (http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7 ... bone-black) my board appears to boot, but I seem to have no way to connect to it through USB, be it serial or ethernet. I can verify that my SDcard is good with a BeagleBone Rev A6, which boots from it and gives me ttyUSB1 and 2. On the Black, Angstrom gave me a ttyACM0 and an eth2, but none of these show up when booting Arch. I think it booted ok because I have a heartbeat on the outermost status LED, but that's all I have to go on.

My host system is Arch and shows nothing at all in dmesg or ip link, I also tried that on an Ubuntu host. The docs say: "After the system is booted, you can SSH to the IP that gets assigned", which implies that there is nothing else I would need to do on my host... Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try?

Thanks,

gens

[SOLVED] Beagle Bone Black - boots but no eth, ttyUSB or tty

ok, I figured out per viewtopic.php?t=5504&p=31154 that the usb doesn't do anything but power by default. The assigned IP from the docs thus would be the IP assigned through my router using the ethernet cable. I didn't think this worked at first either, but it just took a couple of minutes. Looks like I'm in.
