SSH connection for installation

Postby Wilhelm » Mon Mar 10, 2014 9:21 pm

Hello

I just got my BBB. I want to install arm arch linux on it's emmc.

So far I have installed arch linux on sd card by following these instructions: http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/ti/beaglebone-black

Now I can't figure out how to connect to BBB.

I don't have a router. My pc (arch linux) is connected straight to the Internet (PC -> Ethernet -> Wall of my apartment), thus I don't have local cable network. My pc is a wireless access point for other devices (Wifi -> PC -> Ethernet).

I do have a usb ethernet adapter for another ethernet slot.

I don't have a microHDMI adapter, so I can't see anything happening in the BBB.

My only solutions so far are blindly trying to log in using a usb keyboard and trying to get BBB connect to my pc.

What to do?

Serial? (3.3v TTL)

You would turn on internet connection sharing on your PC, or edit the configuration file for the netctl profile to use a static IP.

Now I have a microHDMI adapter, so I can login to BBB.

Seems that I can't use my usb hub, because BBB will just power down.
