Any news for pandaboard's graphic support (PowerVR SGX540)

Postby fabma » Sun Aug 24, 2014 8:39 pm

I've just installed Arch on my Pandaboard in order to use it as an media center based on XBMC. I've never succeeded this with a recent version of ubuntu.
The information about the graphics support I found are all very old, like this: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1595
I wonder if there is any progress in the sgx450 driver? Are there any others SoCs with this chips?

IIRC there has been some recent work on the GMA500 driver in the main kernel. This is the same graphics chip - but in an intel atom. Now much of the GMA500 driver is set up to work on the intel chip - so it doesn't work on the TI chip. However I wonder if any of the recent development on GMA500 (which IIRC was 2d acceleration) has ended up reverse engineering some of the PowerVR interface and programming .....

If so - maybe it can be ported to the TI chip.

Lots of ifs and buts here though ....
