Beaglebone - usb ssh after install

Postby beagleboner » Sun Feb 01, 2015 2:39 am

I have made an SD card with archlinux arm on it but when I boot my beaglebone using it and do "ip addr" on my laptop (connected via usb with beaglebone) there is no interface listed for it. I can ssh with usb when I boot the beaglebone using the default debian on the eMMC.

I am using ArchLinux on my laptop as well. What do I need to do so I can ssh into the beaglebone using a usb connection?

Well I was able to get it up and running. I had to enable the g_ether module on the beaglebone and create netctl profiles on both the beaglebone and my laptop.

It confuses my why I needed to create a netctl profile on my laptop though since I was able to ssh into the beaglebone when it had the stock debian installed on it with no modifications to my laptop settings.

I guess if I want to use another usb port on my laptop I will need to create another netctl profile using that interface.
